I realized yesterday after talking to my little sis Jonee that I didn’t have this recipe posted anywhere but my IG highlights after making it a bunch of times!

I say I have faves a lot because I obvi love food but this is a top 5 for me! It’s more so because my Mom loves it and orders it every time we go to her favorite Cuban Restaurant in Maryland - Cuba De Ayer

Try this dish and it will easily become one of your go-to’s during the week or any night! Have it with cilantro lime rice (recipe below too) or serve it with crusty hot bread as an appetizer to dip into the sauce!

White Wine Garlic Shrimp aka Camarones Al Ajillo

  • 1/2lb shrimp, raw & deveined 

  • 4-5 cloves of garlic, finely minced 

  • 1/2 cup white wine, pinot grigio 

  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (or more)

  • 1 lemon, juiced & zested 

  • 2 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • 1 tablespoon parsley for garnish 

  • Salt & pepper, to taste

Directions 

  • Heat 2 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil on medium heat 

  • Add garlic & sauce for 1-2 minutes (remove from heat if burning)

  • Add red pepper flakes, stir to combine 

  • Add butter & white wine and let simmer until alcohol burns off (about 3-5 minutes)

  • Add lemon juice & lemon zest

  • Add salt & pepper. Taste to adjust

  • Add shrimp & cook for 2 minutes

  • Add parsley for garnish!

  • Serve with cilantro lime rice or crusty bread!

Cilantro Lime Rice 

  • 1 cup of uncooked, long grain rice 

  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil 

  • 1-2 teaspoons of kosher salt 

  • 2 cups of water 

  • 1 lime, juiced

  • 1/2 cup cilantro, chopped

Directions

  • In a small saucepan on medium heat, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil 

  • Add 1 cup of rice and let “toast” for 2 minutes & salt to taste 

  • Add 2 cups of water and bring to a boil on high heat 

  • Once boiling, lower the heat to low and cover.  Let cook for about 15 minutes 

  • Once rice is done, add chopped cilantro and lime juice and stir to combine
